The Story Behind Teddy + Rose

A Note From Morgan:

We’re so glad you stopped by! Teddy + Rose is an online women’s clothing boutique featuring effortless and versatile items all handpicked by owners, myself and Jess Smith. But it’s also a  joy-filled labor of love that is especially close to our hearts.

A few years ago, my husband Scott and I lost our baby boy, Hunter, at 16 weeks of pregnancy.

That was a really difficult season, but during that time, we discovered the sweetness of community when people walked beside us in our suffering.

So, in honor of Hunter, and out of love and gratitude for the communities who show up when it all falls apart, my long-time friend, and favorite shopping partner, Jess, and I launched Teddy + Rose.

Our vision was to create something in Hunter’s name that allows us to comfort and encourage women who have experienced pregnancy loss. For every purchase that you make at Teddy  + Rose a portion of the proceeds goes directly toward creating care packages for women who are walking through an incredibly difficult season.

We hope you love the clothes here as much as we do. We also hope that you remember us when you want to support a friend who is struggling.

We invite you to nominate a woman to receive a care package by simply emailing us at info@shopteddyrose.com. Include your name, the name, address & email address of the woman you are nominating and a brief summary of the reason you are nominating her.  Please reach out in the same way if you have any questions or suggestions for how, together, we can support you or someone in your community.

The Story Behind the Name

When Morgan was discharged from the hospital after delivering Hunter, she received a stuffed bear donated by a mother who had also experienced a pregnancy loss. Morgan and Scott gave this bear to their daughter Emerson, who affectionately named him “Teddy.”  Teddy has been Emerson’s sweet reminder of her brother in heaven and she doesn’t let him out of her sight. Also during that season, some of Morgan’s dearest friends gifted them three rose bushes, one for each child, which they planted in their front yard. Their family remembers Hunter every time they  open the door and see the rose bushes. This often prompts a conversation about heaven with the older two children- and  Emerson is known to  claim Hunter’s rose bush as her own when his has more blooms :)
